Services for Gene Odom, age 83, of Adrian, will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, May 17, 2018, at Poplar Springs Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Mark Hardin, Rev. Matthew Bowden, and Rev. Karl Senn will officiate. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Wednesday at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home. Mr. Gene died Monday, May 14, 2018. Bill Cranford, Kyle Odom, Colby Owens, Greg Brown, Jason Owens, and Jeremy Barnes will serve as pallbearers. Mr. Gene was a loving husband of sixty-three years, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a carpenter and farmer. Gene enjoyed feeding the community with his vegetables and pig pickings. Words he truly lived by come from 2 Corinthians 9:6; whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly; and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Mr. Gene was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Odom; parents, Ernest and Ruby Dell Odom; brother, Virgil Lee Odom, and sister, Ernestine Odom. Survivors include his daughter, Betty (Karl) Senn, of Rockledge; son, Kenny (Lynn) Odom, of Adrian; grandchildren, Leigh (Greg) Brown, of Rockledge, Ashley (Matthew) Bowden, of Louisburg, NC, Mychelle (Jason) Owens, of East Dublin, and Kyle (Kristina) Odom, of Cadwell; sister, Ruby Erkkinen, of Phoenix, AZ; brother-in-law, Walter (Geraldine) Haywood, of East Dublin; fifteen great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Serenity Hospice, 520 Hillcrest Parkway, Dublin, GA 31021.
