Obituary for Mr. Ferrell Wyly Penland Mr. Ferrell Wyly Penland, age 94, of Blairsville, GA, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday evening May 15, 2018. Mr. Penland was born on May 26, 1923 in Union County to the late Joseph Wyly & Anna Bell Hamby Penland. A member of Harmony Grove Baptist Church, Ferrell was ordained as a Deacon in 1948 and has served in many other capacities such as Sunday School Teacher and Sunday School Superintendent. He was a devoted Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather, as well as being an avid Atlanta Braves fan. He loved many things such as gardening and baseball, but nothing quite as much as his family. Ferrell will be remembered by all who knew him, but especially missed by his Wife of 72 years, Grapell Davis Penland; Son, Ronald Ferrell Penland (Janie); Sister, Josephine Akins; Granddaughters, Julie Fullbright (Lee) and Elizabeth Murphey (Chris). Also sharing in his legacy are his Great-Grandchildren: W.J. Fullbright, Levi Fullbright, Janie Fullbright, Regan Bishop, Chapman Murphey and Levi Murphey. As well as many other friends and family. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at Harmony Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Scotty Jarrard officiating. Special music will be presented by Harmony Grove Praise Team. The following gentlemen have been selected to serve as pallbearers: Crawford Colwell, Candler Colwell, Buddy Rowan, Darren Rowan, Slade Rowan, and Johnny Hamby. The family will receive friends at the church from 11:00 a.m. until the service begins. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Flowers are be accepted or donations may be made to Harmony Grove Baptist Church at 1008 Town Creek School Rd. Blairsville, GA 30512. Arrangements are entrusted to Cochran Funeral Home and Crematory of Blairsville.
