Ethel “Effie” M. Deasey, 88, Rockton, passed away Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at her home. Born December 22, 1929 in DuBois, she was the daughter of the late George and Melva (Leach) Phillips. On October 9, 1949, she married Raymond L. Deasey in DuBois. He survives. Effie graduated from the DuBois Area High School in 1947. She later retired from Bell Telephone, where she was a night supervisor. Effie was a former member of the Eastern Star, Gateway Square Dancers, and Bell Telephone… Read More » Pioneers. She enjoyed painting, quilting, sewing, and gardening. Effie was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church. Effie is survived by her daughter, Llyn “Sue” (Tom) Prontock, DuBois, her daughter-in-law, Diane Deasey, DuBois; four grandchildren, Wayne (Lisa) Prontock, Jason (Penny) Prontock, Marc Eric Deasey, and Jillian Renee Deasey; three great-grandchildren, Garett, Evan, and Grace Prontock; her sister, Norma Lee Deasey, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Marc R. Deasey. Friends and family will be received Monday, May 14th from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and Tuesday, May 15th from 10-11 a.m. at the Adamson Funeral Chapel, Inc. Following Monday’s visitation, a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. at the funeral chapel with Rev. Corbin Russell officiating. Interment will be in Morningside Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Mt. Zion UMC, 16 Denton Ave., DuBois, PA 15801 or to Penn Highlands Hospice, 100 Hospital Ave., DuBois.
