Garland Ray Alexander April 2 1953 May 2 2018 (age 65)

Garland Ray Alexander is what his mom and dad named him on April 2, 1953. His mom, Helen Sheeley, and dad, Raymond Leroy Alexander, preceded him in death. Garland also had two brothers, Raymond Leroy and Alfred Frazier to precede him in death. He was reared in College Station, Arkansas and attended the Pulaski County School District where he was a graduate of Mills High School. He enjoyed a mutual loving, kind and close relationship with “his adopted” family – the Johnson’s. God blessed Garland to grow up into adulthood and finished his employment journey working with Cocoa-Cola and Pepsi Cola. Garland was baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. He was a faithful and active member of the ACTS ministry for many years. He highly esteemed his service with the ACTS’ Security Team. Sometimes life throws us unexpected mishaps. Garland began to have problems with his heart in about the year of 2008. After many struggles, his heart became so weak that even the medical interventions no longer worked. He underwent a heart transplant in October 2017. After many wonderful days of life with that heart, Garland was very thankful. He gave God the praise for every day. Subsequently, Garland started to have days of weakness that cause him to go back into the hospital. He died with a grateful heart, knowing that he had been given many days of life and that he had “made his calling and election sure – 2 Peter 1:10”. Because God would “never leave him nor forsake him” he gave up the Ghost and allowed his spirit to return to his Maker. Garland Ray lived and died as he knew that he had lived and walked with God. He passed away peacefully in the Baptist Medical Center CVICU on Wednesday, May 2, 2018. He leaves to cherish his memories, his brother, Ananias Alexander, and sister, Orethia (Edgar) Whitley; nieces, Angelita, Toni, and LaNais Alexander, Analita (Jermaine) Floyd and Alma O. Whitley; nephews, Derrick (Shannon) Jackson, Adell Jackson, Gregory Jackson, Edgar “Bud” Whitley, Jarvis Whitley and a loving host of grand nieces, grand nephews and other relatives and friends.
