Funeral services will be held Sunday, May 06, 2018, at 1:30PM, from First Baptist Church, with Rev. Derek Gentle and Dr. Jim Jackson officiating. She then attended Troy State College on a United Daughters of the Confederacy scholarship, and earned both B.S. and M.S. degrees. Mary taught in Montgomery County Schools from 1960-1963. She met Roy Parker in May of 1963. They were married November 29, 1963. She taught in Tallassee City Schools from 1964-1991 at both the high school and middle school level. She touched thousands of lives throughout her career. She was a member of the Phi Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma professional sorority, where she served as treasurer. Mary loved people, her community and church. She volunteered with many civic organizations in the Tallassee area including Community Hospital Auxillary, Tallassee Chamber of Commerce, Meals on Wheels and many other areas of service. She received the Frances Wagon Award from the Chamber for her volunteer service in the year 2009. She loved her church and actively participated in First Baptist Church Troy, Friendship Baptist Church and First Baptist Church Tallassee. She taught Sunday school, Vacation Bible School, served as church clerk, was active in WMU and led many programs in the church. She was always available to serve and be a witness for her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Roy Parker, son Brad Parker (Shawn) of Tallassee, daughter Denise White (Rocky) of Sylacauga, grandchildren McKenzie and Jack Parker, Alyssa and Alex White and brother, Robert Andress of Troy. She is preceded in death by her parents, Issac Wesley and Burlye Stephens Andress: brothers, James Andress, William Andress and sister Betty Andress Walker and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Saturday, May 05, 2018 from 3:00PM until 5:00PM at First Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to First Baptist Church or your favorite charity.
