Obituary for Melinda S. Gonzales
Our Lord Jesus Christ called Melinda Gonzales, 58, into his Kingdom on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 after a 2 year 9 month courageous fight against stage 4 metastasized breast cancer. Throughout her battle she endured surgeries, radiation treatments and countless chemotherapy treatments with no complaints, a remarkable uplifting attitude and most importantly the strongest faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. She was most recently admitted to the ICU in Flower Mound, TX on March 1st and after a 27 day fight, our Lord God called her to his kingdom in heaven. Surrounded by family, her body rest peacefully on the morning of March 27, 2018 as her soul journeyed into heaven. Melinda was born in Robstown, TX on August 6, 1959. She was the third of five children born to Mr. & Mrs. Robert Sandoval. She played the flute in the Robstown High School Marching Band and was active in her church, St. Anthony’s Parish. God led her to her life partner, Manny Gonzales, while both were in high school and were married on December 15, 1984 in Robstown, TX. After several years living in Corpus Christi, TX as newlyweds, Melinda and Manny moved to Harlingen, TX where their two daughters, Nicole and Cassie were born. Melinda and her family then moved between the Dallas/Fort Worth and Houston areas, settling in Flower Mound, TX in 2004. Melinda was a Godly woman, dedicating her life to embracing all those around her. She was an active parishioner at St. Ann Catholic Parish in Coppell, TX. Melinda enjoyed walking her beloved dog, Stevie Ray, going to the movies, but mostly spending cherished time with family and loved ones. Melinda is survived by her adoring husband of 33 years, Manny Gonzales; her oldest daughter Nicole Gonzales, daughter-in-law Jessica Gonzales and soon to arrive first grandchild, Hollis; her youngest daughter Cassie Poole and son-in-law Travis Poole; her mother Beatriz Sandoval; and her loving siblings Nellie Deanda, Robert Sandoval Jr., Daryle Sandoval, and Irma Sandoval; her mother-in-law Trinidad Gonzales; brother and sister in-laws, many nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles. She goes to be with her father, Robert Sandoval and father-in-law Juan Gonzales in heaven. Melinda was the most thoughtful, considerate, selfless person. As a loving wife and mother, she fiercely looked after her family with the most sincere, kind heart. But to Melinda, everyone was family. She met no stranger and welcomed all into her life with open arms. Anyone who met her would agree that her loving, uplifting spirit was immensely contagious and drew you to her. We will all miss her dearly, but she will continue to thrive in all the hearts she touched. Viewings are scheduled for Saturday March 31, 2018 from 6:00pm-8:00pm and Sunday April 1, 2018 from 2:00pm-5:00pm at Flower Mound Family Funeral Home, Flower Mound, TX.
