Obituary for Ruth Necessary Byington Ruth Necessary Byington passed away on Saturday, April 14, 2018. She was born on March 30, 1927 in Washington County, VA to Daniel Henry, Sr. and Ida C. Rodefer Necessary and grew up in Three Springs Community. She graduated from Valley Institute School. Ruth was a member of Reynolds Memorial Methodist Church where she sang in the choir and was a member of the Golden Key Sunday school class. She was a PTA member and Band booster during her children’s years at Virginia High School. She enjoyed playing fierce games of bridge with her bridge club. Many friends and family knew her as owner/proprietor of Donrumarkel Jewelry Company and The Village Center Hair Salon. She also served as President of Necessary Oil Company. In addition to her parents, Ruth was predeceased by her husband, E. L. Byington, Jr., past president of Charter Federal and COO of Necessary Oil Company. Also preceding her in death were her sisters, Dessie N. Malone, Annie N. Morgan, Emma Lee N. Whiteman, Edna N. Roller and Ada N. Whiteman; and her brothers Dale Necessary, Marion Necessary and D. H. Necessary, Jr. Ruth is survived by her loving family; her daughter, Donna B. Overbay, and son-in-law, Dr. Tom Overbay; her son, Mark E. Byington and daughter-in-law, Lori C. Byington; grandchildren, Annie Rhea Overbay, Emalee Ruth Overbay, Howard Lee Byington, Anthony Overbay and Nick Overbay; her sister, Louise N. Baker and brothers-in-law, Wayne Byington and Gene Baker; sisters-in-law, Mildred Byington, Eliza Necessary, Lorraine S. Byington and Sandra Byington and many nieces and nephews. The graveside service will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, April 17, 2018 in Mountain View Cemetery with Rev. Ralph Kidd officiating. Those desiring to go to the cemetery in procession need to meet at Akard Funeral Home by 10:30 am. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Byington, Mike Akers, Danny Johnson, Mike Baker, Tim Holdway and Chuck Crockett. The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 pm, Monday, April 16, 2018 at Akard Funeral Home. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the wonderful caregivers at Christian Care Center, Wellmont Hospice House and Bristol Regional Medical Center.
