Obituary for Robert Alan Merritt Clifton — Robert Alan Merritt, 81, of 159 Millstream Drive, passed away Monday, April 16th, 2018, at his residence. Born in Fort Mill, he was the husband of Judy Marie Merritt and the son of the late Robert White Merritt and Elizabeth Allene Turner Merritt. Mr. Merritt retired as a machinist from the Draper Corporation and was a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church. He was also proud to be a Shriner and a Mason. In addition to his wife, Mr. Merritt is survived by two sons, George Todd Merritt and wife, Rhonda, of Inman and Michael Giles and wife, Linda, of Boiling Springs, SC; one daughter, Tammy Garrett, and husband, William, of Roebuck; one brother, James O. Merritt, of Morganton, NC; one sister, Linda M. Wilson, of Spartanburg, five grandchildren, Todd Merritt Jr, Cameron Giles, Amanda Unrick, Joshua Garrett, and Nina Martin; and six great-grandchildren, Jordan, Chance, Arianna, Madison, Emerson, Keagan and Coby. Mr. Merritt was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Gerald Merritt. A graveside service will be held Thursday, April 19th, 2018, at 1:00 pm at Sunset Memorial Park with Rev. Wayne Major officiating. Memorials may be made to St. Mark United Methodist Church, 3055 E Main Street Ext, Spartanburg, SC 29307. The family will be at the residence.
