Obituary for Dorothy J. Parr (Brubaker) Dorothy J. Brubaker Parr, 98, of Marysville, and formerly of Harrisburg, passed away peacefully, Sunday, April 8, 2018, in Premier at Perry Village, New Bloomfield. Born in Lebanon on September 21, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Lane B. and Bessie J. Stahl Brubaker. Dorothy retired from Kelly’s Home Care, and also worked at the former Harrisburg State Hospital. She was a 1937 graduate of the former John Harris High School, Harrisburg. Dorothy had a truly green thumb; she loved to travel, especially to the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville. In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Richard L. Parr in 1976; a son, Andrew E. Parr in 1950; and her two brothers, Thomas M. Brubaker and Lane B. Brubaker, Jr. She is survived by three sons, Richard L. Parr husband of Charlene G. of Shiremanstown, Thomas M. Parr husband of Joy of Boone, CO, and Kenneth E. Parr husband of Gerry of Harrisburg; two daughters, Nancy L. Sweigard wife of Jamie T. of Halifax, and Bonnie L. Wagner of Marysville; nine grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; and one great great granddaughter. A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 14, 2018, at 2 PM in the Mountain Side Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 4331 Rodkey Road, Harrisburg, with Brother Robert Edkin, officiating. A private inurnment will be in the Hummelstown Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown, is handling the arrangements.
