Louis Kolovich, 90, of Champion, OH passed away peacefully Thursday, April 26, 2018, at the home of his companion, JoAnn Burns. He was born May 12, 1927, in Newton Falls, OH, the son of the late John and the late Barbara (Blasia) Kolovich. On May 1, 1954, Louis married the former Helen Ann Yurchick. They shared 55 years of marriage and many wonderful memories until her passing, January 6, 2010. Louis retired in 1992 after 15 years of service as the head custodian, often referred to as “Mr. Lou”, in the Champion School district and formerly worked in the shipping department for 22 years at Rockwell International. He was a veteran of the United States Army and also the United States Merchant Marines. He enjoyed polka dancing, watching the Cleveland Indians and Nascar and summer gardening. Lou also enjoyed hosting family activities and holidays. Memories of Louis will be carried on by his daughters, Susan (Ernie) Earl of North Jackson, OH, Karen Carpenter of Vienna, OH and Julie (Dan) Belden of Champion, OH; five grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. He will also be deeply missed by his companion of six years, JoAnn Burns of Newton Falls, OH. Besides his wife, Louis was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Frank, Bill and John Kolovich; sister, Helen Kolovich; and granddaughter, Kimberly Vajda. Services will be held 10:00 AM on Monday, April 30, 2018, at the Carl W. Hall Funeral Home, where Deacon Frank Marino will officiate. Friends may call from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Sunday, April 29, 2018, at the Carl W. Hall Funeral Home. Interment will be in Meadow Brook Memorial Park, Warren, OH. The family is deeply indebted to JoAnn Burns for her love and care.
