Obituary for Dorothy Leona Burton
Dorothy Burton, age 78, of Columbus passed away surrounded by family on April 2, 2018. She was born on July 16, 1939 in Lewis County, KY to the late Amos “Poppy” and Lillie “Mommy” Smith Nolen. Dorothy was a quilter who also enjoyed making dolls. Preceded in death by husband of 58 years, Franklin D. Burton, parents and sisters, Ines Nolen, Helen Nolen, Olie Nolen, Audrey Aills, Ruby Campbell, Glades Dyer, Faye Sartin, Mildred Bishop, and Jesse Brown. Dorothy is survived by daughters, Dottie Burton and Deborah (Antonio) Chavez; son, Franklin D. (Virginia) Burton Jr.; grandchildren, David Smith, Tara Tipton-Wilson (Tim), Carlos (Christina) Scott, Jamie (Jack) Addis-Scott, Dallas Thompson III, and Elizabeth Simpkins; great grandchildren, Joey A. Tipton, Taylor D. Tipton, Danny Lee Tipton Jr., Carlos E. Scott III, Tyty A. Scott, Christopher A. Scott, Alex M. Addis, and Riley L. Addis; sisters, Martha Stevenson of Vanceburg, KY, Louella Bloomfield of Urbana, OH, Margie Friddle of Columbus, OH, and Irene (Roger) Hamilin of Kings, NC; brother, Amos (Tammy) Nolen of Vanceburg, KY; and many nieces, nephews, other family and dear friends. Friends may call at the O.R. WOODYARD SOUTH CHAPEL, 1346 South High St., on Thursday, April 5, 2018 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm. Graveside service will be Friday at 1 pm with Pastor Tom Walker officiating at the Nolen Family Cemetery in Vanceburg, KY.
