George Alexander Nicholson passed away April 21, 2018. He was a son of the late James Earle and Georgia NesSmith Nicholson. George is also preceded in death by his brothers James Earl Nicholson Jr., and Jack Nicholson. Mr. Nicholson is survived by his brother John Nicholson Sr., numerous nieces and nephews, and special friend Bunnie Silver. Mr. Nicholson was a graduate of Lee Edwards High School, Asheville-Biltmore college, and Western Carolina University class of 1957. He was a school teacher for 34 years, and a Veteran of the US Army. George was a longtime member of the Grove Park Inn, Asheville Country Club, and the WNC Referee Association. Funeral Services have been planned for Wednesday April 25, 2018 in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave at 11:00am. Interment to follow at Green Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm Tuesday evening.
