Obituary for Bruce Wise
Bruce Wise, age 83, of Church of God Road in Spruce Pine died Monday, April 2, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family.
Born on August 7, 1934 in Mitchell County, he was the son of the late Grady and Josie Rowe Wise. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brothers; Grady, Jr., Sam, Ed, and Cornelius Wise and his sister; Georgia Giles.
Bruce attended the Altapass Church of God and retired in 1996 from Henredon Furniture after twenty-years. Prior to working at Henredon, he operated a gas station in Spruce Pine and had worked in the mines. He was one of the last hard working men. He loved all of his family and was a good provider for them. He could fix anything and enjoyed going to the trade lot where he had numerous friends. He also enjoyed coon hunting, playing checkers and his chickens.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife of sixty-two years; Wanda Faye Wise of the home; his sons; Marty Wise and wife, Carol of Spruce Pine and Kenneth Wise and wife, Cathy of Spruce Pine; his grandchildren; Stacey Michelle Wise and Daniel Kevin Wise; his great grandchildren; Lacey Cheyanne Duncan and Olivia Ollis; his brother; Wilburn Wise and wife, Ruby of Spruce Pine; his sister; Ethel Riddle of Spruce Pine; and close friends of the family; Johnny and Debbie Hollifield and Jonathan McCaffrey.
The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence at the funeral service honoring the life of Bruce Wise on Thursday, April 5, 2018 at 3:00 pm at the Altapass Church of God with the Rev’s. Cameron Smith and Randy Wise officiating. A time to support the family, share memories and receive friends will be on Thursday, April 5, 2018 from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm at the church. Interment will follow in the McKinney Gap Cemetery.
Flowers will be accepted and appreciated or memorial donations may be made to; Hospice and Palliative Care of the Blue Ridge, 236 Hospital Drive, Spruce Pine, NC 28777.
The family would like to extend a special ‘Thanks’ to Hospice and Palliative Care of the Blue Ridge for their wonderful care of Bruce during his illness.
