Obituary for Mrs. Margareta Elizabeth Hasenkopf-Dukarm Margareta Elizabeth Hasenkopf-Dukarm, age 89 years, died on April 24th, 2018 at home surrounded by her family. She was born on June 8th, 1928 in Romania to Margaret and Johann Krutsch, who predeceased her. She was married to Fridolin “Fritz” Hasenkopf with whom she immigrated with to the USA in 1956. In 1960 she became the proud owner of the Crystal Brook Resort. Margareta took great pleasure in cooking for her guests and family alike by day and dancing and partying with everyone by night. Fritz passed away in 1975 and years later she met John Dukarm (deceased) at the Rheinischer German Club in NJ and the two were shortly thereafter married. Soon thereafter Margareta and John purchased The Mountain Brauhaus. During her down time, she enjoyed spending time with family, playing Yahtzee, reading a good book, listening to music and gardening. Margareta was a strong, driven woman and an inspiration to many; her memory and legacy lives on through her family. She was a lifetime member of the Round Top Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. Margareta is survived by her six children, Reinhard Hasenkopf and his wife Sylvia; Harald Hasenkopf and his wife Maren; Alfred Hasenkopf and his wife Jeanine; Christine Nadeau and her husband Bertram; Edgar Hasenkopf and his wife Wendy; Laura Garafalo and her husband James. “Omi” as she was better known was also survived by eleven Grandchildren Erika Hasenkopf; Amanda Beatty; Crystal Hasenkopf; Peter Hasenkopf; Joseph Hasenkopf; Fridolin Hasenkopf; Robert Hasenkopf; Derick Hasenkopf; Christine Lawlor; Britini Hasenkopf, Ariana Garafalo and seven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two step children John Dukarm and his wife Nancy and their sons John and Michael; and Peter Dukarm and his wife Rae and their sons Peter and Robert. She is also survived by her sister Laura Krutsch, her niece Eleanore Schepp and her husband Louis and their children and grandchildren. Also, by her family in Austria, her nephew Herbert Wohlmuth his wife Ernie and son Christoph. Margareta was a remarkable woman who was dearly loved by her family, grandchildren, co-workers and many guests. Omi will truly be missed by all. The Round Top Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary will hold services in her memory Monday evening at 7:30 P.M. Funeral services will be held at Richards Funeral Home, Cairo, N.Y. on Tuesday, May 1, 2018, at 11:00A.M. Interment will follow in the family plot of The Round Top Cemetery, Round Top, N.Y.
