Obituary for John J. Gallogly John J. Gallogly passed away peacefully on Saturday, 23 December, 2017 at the Teresian House. He was predeceased by his parents Edward J. and E. Jane Gallogly, his sister Mary K. Gallogly, and his brother Thomas K. Gallogly. He is survived by his sister Jane A. Dunn (James W. Dunn) of Alexandria, VA and many nephews, nieces, and cousins. John graduated from Catholic Central High School, Troy and studied graphic design at the New York Institute of Art in New York City. He worked as a window designer for Frear’s Department Store, Troy, NY and Two Guys stores in eastern New York. A talented artist and sculpture, he produced unique detailed drawings and sketches. He studied under noted local sculpture Robert Blood of Niskayuna, NY. He went to Europe in 1964 to attend the Winter Olympic Games and to travel throughout the continent. He was proud of his Irish heritage, visiting Ireland to investigate his family genealogy and to explore Irish culture and music. He was a member of Comhalttas Ceoltoiri Eireann, an Irish organization dedicated to promoting and preserving music, song and dance of Ireland. For many years he cared for his mother and maintained the family properties in Defreestville, NY. A devout Catholic, John attended daily mass at the Cathedral in Albany. He was caring and generous to his family and friends and will be missed. All are invited to attend a Memorial Mass at the Teresian House, Saturday, 28 April, 2018 at 10 am.
