Obituary of Charles Strasser, Jr. Charles J. Strasser, loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather died at his home in Madison, NJ on April 21, 2018 at age 91. Charles was born in Howard Beach, Queens, NY on September 28,1926 to Charles and Juliette Strasser. He attended P.S.146 in Queens and graduated from Brooklyn Technical High School in 1947 after a 2 year break to join the service. He served in WWII with the US Navy 7th fleet where he was on a sub chaser and a patrol craft in the Philippines and Okinawa. When he returned home he joined the Naval Air Reserve, and married his wife of 69 years, Edna (Elliott). He started work at Exxon oil, and continued his service in the reserve, participating in airlifts in Germany, Spain, Cuba, Vietnam and Japan. For his naval service he received 22 US and foreign decorations until he retired after 26 years. Charles began his 40 year career with Exxon (formally Standard Oil) in Manhattan, NY. Charles held various positions within Exxon until he retired as the Division Head at Florham Park, NJ Operations. Charles enjoyed reading, playing bridge, photography, bowling, travel, gardening, and collecting coins and stamps. Charles is survived by his wife Edna, daughter, Jeanne Dallas and her husband Jim, his daughter, Patricia Strasser, son, Robert Strasser and his wife Andrea Engber, his son, Chuck Strasser and his wife Kim, his grandchildren Taylor Dallas, Charlee Strasser,Connor Strasser, Kylee Strasser, Kaycee Strasser, Spencer Engber, and great granddaughters Ciara Dallas and Taelyn Dallas. Charles was the sister of the late Jeanette A. Dunn, who died March 8, 2016. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at Burroughs, Kohr & Dangler Funeral Home, 106 Main Street Madison, NJ on April 26, 2018 from 10:00am to 12:00pm.
