Mrs. Rosalie Claire (Perry) Barnes, 79, of 3712 Corls Ridge Road, South Mountain, PA, died Tuesday afternoon, April 10, 2018, at Quincy Village, Waynesboro. Born July 2, 1938 in Gouverneur, NY, she was the daughter of the late Vernon Perry and Frederick W. and Luava A. (Griffis) Schwaderer. She and her husband of over 36 years, William T. Barnes, were married on March 6, 1982. They moved to their present resident in 2006. Rose was a very hard worker and worked long after retirement age. In her early years, she was employed at the Gettysburg Shoe Factory, Claire Frock Sewing Factory, and was a cook at the Cascade American Legion. She then worked at Fort Ritchie as a supply clerk in several different departments until 1985, when she became the owner and operator of The Red Hen Deli in Mont Alto, PA. She was an excellent cook and built quite a business there. After that, she worked as a cook at The Raven Rock Complex for many years, retiring in 2002. She also worked at Lowe’s in Chambersburg. She was a member of Cascade American Legion Post #239 and Joe Stickell American Legion Post #15, Waynesboro. She was also a life member of the South Mountain Fish and Game and the Blue Ridge Sportsman’s Association. Rose enjoyed cooking, baking, hunting, reading, sewing, and doing crossword puzzles. She also loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she is survived by five children, Lori Lentz and her husband, Robert of Fayetteville, Debra Wierman and her husband Kenneth of Waynesboro, Craig Dick and his companion, Ella Baker of Waynesboro, Kimberly Woodring and her husband, Rodney of South Mountain, and Pamela Pritt of South Mountain; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; her very special sister-in-law, Anna Mae Ray of Mont Alto; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her former spouse, James L. Dick; two sons, James L. Dick II on April 5, 2016 and Henri A. Dick on June 15, 2017; two brothers, Charles W. Perry and Frederick O. Schwaderer; and one sister, Frances M. Pritt. Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, April 14, 2018, in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro, with Father Joseph Carolin officiating. Burial will follow in Strang’s Cemetery, South Mountain. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Friday evening, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Joe Stickell American Legion Post #15 Building Fund, 353 South Potomac Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268.
