Obituary for Margaret Walker Margaret Walker, 91, formerly of 164 Daniels Ave, Pittsfield, passed away April 19, 2018 at Hillcrest Commons, where she has resided since 2011. She was born in Birmingham, AL on May 12, 1926 to the late Clifford and Ann Banks Ridley. She attended schools in Alabama. She was the wife of the late Frank Walker, Sr., former Regional President of the NAACP, who died in 1985. Primarily a homemaker, she had worked as a nurse’s aide at Hillcrest Hospital, and also at one time worked at Royal Cleaners. She was an accomplished seamstress, and also volunteered at Elder Services. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and also the Second Congregational Church. She enjoyed cooking and sewing and volunteering. Mrs. Walker leaves her four daughters, Faith Walker Heard and her husband Keith of Pittsfield, Gina Walker of North Adams, Joyce Powell of Birmingham, AL, Bonnie Thomas of Louisville, KY; two sons, Frank Walker, Jr. and his wife Penny of Pittsfield, Jonathan Walker of Pittsfield; eleven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter Roger Mae Elmore. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Mrs. Walker will be held, Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at 12pm at Dery Funeral Home in Pittsfield, with Rev. Sloan T. Letman, IV, Pastor of Second Congregational Church, officiating. Calling hours will precede the service beginning at 11am.
