Obituary of Marion Dorn
Marion Robinson Morton Dorn, 90, of Salisbury, died on Friday, March 30, 2018 at Wicomico Nursing Home. She was born in Washington, D.C. on July 5, 1927. She was the daughter of the late Judge Franklin J. and Edythe B. Robinson. Judge Robinson assisted in founding the Memorial Methodist Church in Hyattsville:he was Worthy Patron of the Eastern Star and a member of the Mt. Herman Lodge Masonic Order. Mrs. Dorn was a Job’s Daughter member in Hyattsville where she attended school.
Mrs. Dorn graduated from the University of Maryland in 1948 where she was a member of Sigma Kappa Sorority. She was a National Honor student, a member of First United Methodist Church in Inverness, FL., and a member of Lakeside Golf Course, the Montgomery Village Women’s Golf Association, Gaithersburg, MD and the Cove Creek Golf Club, Stevensville, MD. She made her home for many years in Cove Creek Golf and Country Club with her first husband, James H. Morton who passed away in 2017. She was also an active member of the Kent Island Federation of Art, Kent Island United Methodist Church and had been an active member of the Inverness Women’s Club until her move to Maryland in 2012.
Mrs. Dorn had been a resident of Mallard Landing Retirement Community, and was an active member of the community at Mallard. She was also a resident at the Village of Harbor Point in Salisbury, MD.
She was also preceded in death by her second husband, James “Bill” Dorn in 2011 and her step-father, Howard H. Holmes, who was the first police chief of Hyattsville, MD.
She is survived by her 3 children: James F. Morton of Mount Airy, MD and his former wife Clare F. Morton, Cindi M. Hildreth and her husband Brian of Salisbury, MD and Andrew E. Morton of Frederick, MD and his former wife, Nancy B. Morton; eight grandchildren: Nathaniel Morton and his wife Monique, Joseph Morton, Amber Morton and her fiancé Jason Evans, Kyle Hildreth and his girlfriend Alyssa Leonhardt, Brandon Hildreth and his wife Kayla, Kimberly Hildreth and her fiancé Tim Martin, Kevin Morton and his wife Kimberly and Sarah Morton; three great-grandsons, Keegan and Mannee Morton and A’Drian Costley.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at Holloway Funeral Home, P.A., Salisbury. Friends and family may call one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Asbury United Methodist Church, 1401 Camden Avenue, Salisbury, MD 21801.
