Elizabeth “Bette” Engel Arens, 82, passed away on Sunday, April 22, 2018 at home. Visitation will be held from 11 AM to 12 PM with 12 PM service on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at Hillcrest Christian Church, 11411 S. Quivira Rd, Overland Park, KS 66210. Cremation will occur at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Cancer Action KC, 10520 Barkley, Ste.100, Overland Park, KS 66212 or Hillcrest Christian Church Early Learning Center, 14144 S. Quivira Rd, Overland Park, KS 66210. Bette was born to Adam and Frieda Engel in Wetmore, Kansas on May 7, 1935. Bette graduated from Wetmore High School and attended Washburn University and the University of Missouri at Kansas City. Bette married Robert Arens of Logan, Kansas in 1956. To this union, on son, Richard, was born in 1965. Bette was the youngest of five children; all of her immediate family preceded her in death. Survivors include, husband, Bob; son, Rick; granddaughter, Sophia; newphew, Melvin E. Bourne (Judy; 4 great nieces and nephews, 12 great great nieces and nephews; and she attended Hillcrest Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) where she was a member. She was Treasurer of the Church’s Senior Group, “The Keenagers.”
