Obituary for James R. Groves James R. Groves, 85, of Yellow Creek Lake, Indiana (Claypool) passed on Thursday, April 5, 2018 in Mentone, Indiana. He was born on June 29, 1932 in Parkston, South Dakota to Taylor and Marie (Straka) Groves. He married on Nov. 30 1958 in Claypool, Indiana to Reta R. Reed, she survives. James had been a carpenter and mason for many years. He was a 1951 graduate of Burket High School. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of the Mentone Masonic Lodge, the American Legion of Laketon, and the Silver Lake Lions Club where he was active at fish fries and called Bingo. He was a lifetime member of Sycamore Golf Club where he was an avid golfer and helped with grounds maintenance. Survivors and place of residence: Wife – Reta Groves – Yellow Creek Lake, Ind. Daughter – Carolyn Groves – Warsaw, Ind. Grandson – Josh Johnson – Yellow Creek Lake, Ind. Preceded in Death By: Parents Son – Ted A. Groves Brother – Leland Groves and Eldon Groves Time and Date of Services: Following his wishes no services will be held at this time.
