Obituary for Sarah M. Melton SARAH MELTON MORTON – Sarah M. Melton, 88, of Danvers, passed away Wed., April 18, 2018, at Heritage Health in Normal, Ill. Sarah was born May 8, 1929, in Lilly, Ill., to Joseph and Florella (McLaughlin) Serpette. She married Harold “Bud” R. Melton on Feb. 19, 1950, in Eureka. He preceded her in death on Dec. 17, 2004. She was also preceded in death by one great granddaughter Haley Niemynski. Surviving are one son, Dale Melton of Bloomington, Ill.; one daughter, Florella (Michael) McGowan of Fort Myers, Fla.; seven grandchildren, Sharonn Johnson, Renee Walters, James Melton, Karen Mayhew, Joseph Melton, Rachel McGowan and Jeremiah McGowan; and 8 great grandchildren Victoria Johnson, Catelyn and Trinity Niemynski, Kohen, Sylus and Patrick McGowan, Isaiah Mayhew and Jacob Walters. Sarah and her husband farmed in the Danvers area, where she enjoyed working and gardening. She was a lifelong, loyal Chicago Cubs fan. Sarah was a member of the Goodfield Apostolic Christian Church. A visitation will be held Mon., April 23, 2018 from 5 to 7 p.m., at the Goodfield Apostolic Christian Fellowship Hall. A funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Tues., April 24, at Goodfield Apostolic Christian Church with a visitation held prior to the service from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Ministers of the church will officiate. Burial will be at Park Lawn Cemetery in Danvers, IL. Memorials may be made to Goodfield Apostolic Christian Church or to Congerville Fire & Rescue.
