Edwin C. Baker, 68, of Waltham, died surrounded by his family on April 28, 2018 in OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Ottawa after a battle with cancer. Mass of Christian burial will be 12:00 PM Tuesday in Queen of the Holy Rosary Memorial Shrine Church in La Salle with The Very Rev. Paul Carlson officiating. Burial will be in Waltham Cemetery. Visitation will be 9:00 AM until 11:45 AM in the Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle. Edwin was born in La Salle on October 9, 1949 to Charles and Dorothy (Newcomer) Baker. He married Judy Sampo on November 14, 1970. Edwin served with the Army National Guard. He worked at Troy Grove Grain Elevator and farmed. Edwin loved fishing, shooting guns, cooking, listening to the oldies, watching westerns and being a jokester. He was a hardworking and loving man. He was a member of Holy Rosary. Edwin is survived by his wife Judy of Waltham; his mother Dorothy Baker of Mendota; one daughter Karen (Joe) Burgoni of Appleton, WI; three sons, Jeff (Deanna) Baker of Waltham, Brian Baker of Waltham and Chris Baker of Waltham; two grandchildren, Mia Burgoni and Joe Baker; three sisters, Arlene (Gary) Bauer of Dimmick, Sandy (Steve) Morris of Chillicothe and Cathy Jacobs of Mendota. He was preceded in death by his father Charles Baker.
