Mr. Elbert Lewis Fields, 87, passed away Thursday, April 12. Funeral services will be held at Fair Oaks Methodist Church at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, April 18, 2018. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 17 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Carmichael Funeral Home in Smyrna. A native of Macon, GA, Mr. Fields moved to Smyrna in 1950 to attend Southern Tech, and met the love of his life, Elizabeth Ross Fields. They were marred for 54 years, and had one daughter, Claire Fields Kuhl, who lives in Greenwood,… Read More » SC with her husband, Steve Allen Kuhl. The Fields were very active in the Atlanta Chapter of the American Theater Organ Society, and he edited their newsletter for over a decade. After Elizabeth’s death in 2005, Mr. Fields found new happiness with fellow ATOS member and virtuoso organist, Wanda Carey. They were married for 12 years, until her death in January of this year. Mr. Fields worked at Lockheed for 47 years, and enjoyed participating in the Georgia-Lockheed Employee Recreation Club automotive and photography groups. He co-founded the GLERK Concert Band, and played tenor saxophone with the group. He also founded Concord Technologies, Inc., a computer service and support company that he ran for many years. A deeply committed Christian, Mr. Fields was a member of Fair Oaks Methodist Church. He gave hundreds of volunteer hours to the church, to MUST Ministries, and to friends, family, and even strangers in need of a helping hand. He is survived by his brother, Thomas Felder Fields, of Macon, GA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to ATOS Atlanta, P.O. Box 426, Marietta, Georgia, 30061.
