Irvin L. Hadden, 94, of Fleming Island, Florida, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 31, 2018, at Haven Hospice in Orange Park Fl.
He was born in Augusta, Georgia on November 24, 1923, to Jeffie and Luouida Hadden. He grew up in Augusta, Ga., and worked at the Augusta Arsenal until he enlisted in the Navy, during World War II. After returning to Augusta, he met and married Dorothy “Louise” Arnett on June 19, 1949. He was called back into service for the Korean War.
Louise and Irvin moved to Huntsville, Alabama, in 1954, where he worked at the Redstone Arsenal for the remainder of his career.
Irvin was a devoted husband and father. He was extremely proud of his loving wife of 68 years, Louise Hadden, their 2 Sons, Keith (Linda) Hadden of Fleming Island, and Gary (Holly) Hadden, of Atlanta, Ga., 4 Grandchildren, Jennifer D. Hadden of Orange Park, Christopher (Jennifer Ann) Hadden, Jacksonville Beach, Crystal Hadden & Mark (Rachael) Hadden of Atlanta, Ga. and 1 Great Grandchild, Ty Hadden, Jacksonville Beach. Irvin is also survived by many loving nieces & nephews, 4 Step-Grandchildren, 10 Step-Great grandchildren and many dear friends.
Irvin was preceded in death by his parents, and his only sibling, his brother Roy Lester Hadden of Connecticut.
Irvin was the consummate Southern Gentleman, with a keen sense of humor and a friendly handshake and smile to all he met. He and Louise had an active life at Whitesburg Baptist Church in Huntsville, and their Square Dancing Club. After retiring at age 55, he and Louise traveled extensively in the US and went on many Cruises with family and friends. The Haddens moved to Fleming Island, FL. in 2004 where they were embraced by Keith and Linda Hadden, their new church, extended Florida family and new friends.
A viewing and visitation with family will be Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at 1:00PM at First Baptist Church, on Kingsley Avenue, Orange Park, FL. Church service will be at 2:00, followed by burial at the Magnolia Cemetery, Kingsley Avenue. The family wishes to thank Haven Hospice for their tender loving care of Irvin, and the compassion and support given to the family the last 5 days of his life here on earth.
