Ruth Leone Scheskie 2018

Ruth Leone Scheskie, of Eagle River, Wis., and formerly of Deerfield, Ill., died March 2 at Rennes Health and Rehabilitation Center in Rhinelander, Wis. She was 93.
She was born Dec. 17, 1924 in Grand Rapids, Mich., to George and Gladys Jacobs, and shortly thereafter moved with her parents to Deerfield, Ill., where she spent her childhood and most of her adult life. She graduated from Deerfield-Shields High School in Highland Park in 1942, and married Arthur Scheskie in 1945. Over the… years they enjoyed boating on Lake Michigan and the Illinois and Mississippi Rivers, traveling throughout the U.S. via camper and motorhome, and spending summers at a variety of cabins they owned in the Conover, Wis., area. They retired to Conover in 1992, and she moved to Eagle River in 2013.
Mrs. Scheskie is survived by her children, Bonnie (Rod) Konsler of Bailey, Colo., and Arthur Jr. (Linda) of St. Cloud, Minn.; a sister, Nancy Schaal of Island Lake, Ill., as well as seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband in 2013; a son, David, in 2015, and a sister, Norma, in 2017.
Throughout her life, Ruth’s profound joy was reading, and she instilled this love in her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an enthusiastic volunteer at the Walter E. Olson Memorial Library in Eagle River, and was recognized as the Walter E. Olson Memorial Library Foundation’s Volunteer of the Year for 2005-2006.
A celebration of her life will be held Sunday, July 15 from 1 to 3 p.m. at Riverstone Restaurant, 219 N. Railroad Street, Eagle River, Wis.
