Virginia Carrouth Carter 2018

Virginia Carrouth Kitchens Carter, 92, resident of Kinkade Drive, widow of Ray Jackson Carter, died Thursday, March 29, 2018 at Hospice of the Piedmont, Hospice House.
Born in Atlanta, GA, January 22, 1926, she was a daughter of the late Horace N. and Lessie Gaddy Carrouth. She was employed with the Celanese Corporation as a Lab Supervisor until her retirement. She loved art and was a very accomplished artist. She was a member of the Alley Cats Women’s Bowling League until age 91 and… bowled in a semi-pro bowling league for many years. She was an active member of the Catawba Baptist Church in Rock Hill, SC until she moved to Greenwood.
Surviving are two daughters, Patricia Blankenship and Christine Snipes both of Greenwood; a step-daughter, Vicky Carter of Rock Hill; a granddaughter, Rhonda Bryant and Husband Michael of Ninety Six; a grandson, Trey Snipes and wife Regina of Simpsonville; seven great-grandchildren, Matthew Bryant and wife Hope, Anna Grace Bryant, Drew Bryant, James Snipes, Jonathan Snipes and Thomas Snipes; four sisters, Mildred Ferrell of Greenville, Shirley Lawing of York, Iva Stortini of Amsterdam, NY and Marilyn Lunch of Kannapolis, NC; one brother, Don Carrouth of Concord, NC and a number of nieces and nephews.
Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM Monday, April 2nd in the Catawba Baptist Church Cemetery in Rock Hill, SC with the Rev. Dr. Ron Richardson officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers the family request memorials are made to Hospice Care of the Piedmont at 408 W. Alexander Ave. Greenwood, SC 29464.
