Dean E. Zerby, of Harrisburg PA, passed away quietly on Wednesday March 21, 2018 at the age of 93, surrounded by his loving family. Dean was the son of the late, Edward Zerby and Lola Heckman and is also preceded in death by his loving wife of 65 years; Arlene Rossman Zerby and by his brothers; Glenn and Robert Zerby and by his sister; Gladys Korman.
Dean is survived by his two sons; Douglas Zerby and his wife; Jeannette, Don Zerby and his wife; Janet. Dean also leaves behind five beautiful grandchildren; Jena Zerby Swensson and her husband Michael, Daman Zerby, Dean Zerby, Dustin Zerby and Deryck Zerby. As well as two great grandchildren; Mia and Charlie Swensson.
Following his honorable service in the United States Army during World War 2, Dean worked for and retired from Henkels & McCoy Power Company with 51 years of service. He attended Calvary United Methodist Church. In Dean’s spare time, he loved spending time with his family and was especially fond of watching his precious grandchildren at their various sporting events and activities. It was said that Dean also sported a “green thumb” and in the summer he could be seen working in his vegetable garden. Later in life he loved spending time on his porch watching the birds he fed.
Services for Dean will be held on Thursday March 29, 2018 at the Geigle Funeral Home; 2100 Linglestown Road, Harrisburg PA 17110 at 11AM. Prior to the service, at 10AM the family will be receiving guests. Following the service; interment and final comital will take place a Woodlawn Cemetery; 4855 Londonderry Road, Harrisburg PA 17109, at 12:30PM. All are welcome to attend.
