Obituary of Helen Lee (Coleman)
Helen (Coleman) Lee
Irondequoit – Passed away on March 24th, at the age of 90, after a brief illness. She was predeceased by William (Bill) her beloved husband of 57 years, her parents Lawrence and Mary, her brothers Francis and Lawrence and her four-legged companion Charlie. She is survived by her loving sister Mary Ruth Armstrong; her children John (Judie) Lee, Margie (Frank) Lee-Szymanski, Janet (Tony) Olivieri, Betti (Steve) Manning, Jim Lee, and Jo Ellen (Dave) Lozzi; her grandchildren Joseph Lee, Michael (Erin) Lee and Adelle (Justin) Toarmino; great grandchildren Dawson and Vincent, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Helen was devoted to her family and her faith. A long-time resident of Binghamton, NY, she belonged to St. Thomas Aquinas Parish where she was an active member of the Holy Rosary Society and Fatima Club. After Bill’s retirement, they moved to the Rochester area to be closer to family and to pursue their hobbies of boating, fishing and gardening. During this time they established a Clothing Closet at the Church of the Epiphany in Sodus, which served the poor and migrant workers in that area. Later they became active members of St. Cecilia’s Parish in Irondequoit, where they volunteered in the parish Food Cupboard.
Helen is remembered as a loving wife and mother, whose home was always open and welcoming to friends and family. She was a generous person who put the needs of others before her own. She saw the bright side of any situation, and always found the good in others. She was loved by all who knew her, and she will be greatly missed.
Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday from 3pm to 7pm at the Falvo Funeral Home, 1395 North Goodman St., Rochester. The burial will take place on Helen’s birthday, June 8th, at St. Brigid Cemetery in Friendsville, PA. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Hildebrandt Hospice who cared for Helen so lovingly in her last days. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Hildebrandt Hospice, 2652 Ridgeway Ave., Rochester NY 14626, or St. Brigid Parish, 17 Cottage St., Friendsville PA 18818.
