Together Again — Yvonne N. Westfall formerly a resident of Orrville, died peacefully of natural causes surrounded by her family at Danbury Senior Living Center on Monday October 24th. Yvonne is survived by her daughters Candice Westfall, Dale Keltz (husband Gary), Nadine Landaw (husband Dennis), her sons Glenn Westfall (late wife Donna), Randy Westfall (wife Michelle), Grandchildren Alison Cook (husband Drew), Brodie Keltz (wife Margaret), Great Grandchildren Cooper & Lily Cook. Our mother, our friend was born on March 18, 1931 in Pennsylvania and moved to Florida when she was ten. She met Charles Westfall and they married and moved to Ohio in the early 1950’s. He proceeded her in death in 1985. As a young adult in Tampa, Yvonne was a receptionist at a local radio station and enjoyed meeting the music names of the day and other celebrities dropping by for on-air interviews and promotions. In Ohio, she was the assistant manager at Orr Theatre where most of her children worked at one time or another. ‘Wilkommen’. Having a ‘show biz’ family, so to speak, made meal times very entertaining. I am proud to say that after multiple viewings of the currently featured movies – us kids could quote most lines and proudly could say ‘Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious‘ backwards! Always eager to learn, Yvonne gave ‘thinking gifts’ involving math or wordplay and she was tough to beat, but fun to try. She was always up for a good game of Gin Rummy and up to her death, she was still working the Daily Jumble. As kids growing up in the 50s, 60s, & 70s mom kept a rein on us but encouraged our individual interests. We ate supper together every night and each of us kids were then, what are now called the modern day ‘remote control’ and ‘dishwashers’. Yvonne saw and embraced technology advances throughout the years and thoroughly enjoyed becoming a grandmother and promoted to great grandmother. We didn’t always get what we wanted, but mom and dad always provided us with what we needed. Mom was very hands-on with us kids and she took special interest in ensuring that our handwriting was neat and nicely done, often requiring us to rewrite our homework if it didn’t match her penmanship precision. Yvonne and Charles were great examples of a couple in love. When mom had to work late, dad would prepare a special late supper for just the two of them. They are together again, dancing and enjoying a shrimp cocktail. Friends may call on Friday, October 28, 2022, at Sherwood Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel, 7067 Cleveland Road, Wooster, from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Services will be held at 3:00 pm on Friday, October 28, 2022 at the Mausoleum Chapel, with Pastor Dennis Landaw officiating. Burial will take place at the Sherwood Memorial Gardens in Wooster.
