Yolanda “Landa” (Marino) Fulgoni, age 92, of Billerica, beloved wife of the late Arthur J. Fulgoni Sr., died peacefully at her home on Sunday after a period of declining health. The daughter of the late Giuseppe and Concetta (Saia) Marino, Landa was born in Boston, on May 1, 1930, and lived in Medford before moving to Billerica in 1958 where she raised her family. Landa was a kind, loving, and caring person who selflessly put her family’s and other’s needs before her own. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, vacationing at her sisters’ and children’s cottages, visiting with friends and relatives, saying the Rosary, attending daily Mass and her Wednesday morning prayer group, and playing bingo at the Billerica Senior Center. She had a playful sense of humor and a beautiful smile. While she enjoyed cooking and always welcomed guests into her home, whether planned or unexpected, she also loved going to restaurants. She especially enjoyed donuts and shopping; it made her giddy. She was an active parishioner of the former St. Mary Parish in Billerica, where in her younger years she taught CCD and sang in the choir. Landa’s Catholic religion and profound faith in God guided her throughout her life. In Yolanda’s declining years, she greatly appreciated the many wonderful people who helped to take care of her. She is survived by three sons, Arthur Fulgoni Jr. and his wife Leonora of Billerica, David Fulgoni of Billerica, and Thomas Fulgoni and his wife Shirley of Billerica; four daughters, Lisa Fulgoni of Billerica, Christine Martell and her husband John of Billerica, Susan Lyons of Dracut, and Concetta Sardzinski and her husband Mark of Bedford; one sister, Marie Freeman of Naples, FL; one brother James Marino of Winchester; close cousin Rose Solano of Peabody; childhood friend Patsy Healey of Groton; family friend Anne Mullen of Lowell, as well as 25 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Lorraine Fulgoni and Stephen Fulgoni, and sister of the late Lena Whitney, Rose Lucier, Joseph, Domenic and Victor Marino. Visiting hours will be held Monday, December 26, at the Sweeney Memorial Funeral Home, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica from 2 – 6 PM. A Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, December 27, at St. Matthew the Evangelist Parish in St. Theresa Church 466 Boston Rd., Billerica at 10 AM. Burial in Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation at www.parkinsons.org.
