Winifred “Winkie”‘s Obituary Winifred “Winkie” Florence (Mapes) Granfors rejoined the love of her life Ernie Granfors on February 4th 2022 in Branson West, Missouri, at age 89. She was born on October 31, 1932, on her family farm near Bellevue Michigan. She grew up a farm girl, but vowed never to marry a farmer, opting instead to marry Ernie, an electrical engineer. They were married 55 years. In reality, she was very proud of her farm heritage and, as all of her acquaintances are aware, she drove tractors and performed all of the tasks required to maintain a farm during the years when the men were away in World War 2. Ernie and Winkie made a life together in Jackson, Michigan, where they raised three sons. Son Jimmy predeceased Winkie. She moved to California in 2005 after Ernie passed.In 2014 her eldest son, Patrick, retired and moved to rural Missouri. Winkie soon followed where she lived out her remaining years. She and those that loved her endured the effects of her Alzheimer’s disease for several years, but her spunky attitude and golden heart prevailed until the end. She is survived by her sons Patrick (Eileen) and Michael (Barbara). Winkie’s grandchildren are Michelle and Maija. No services are planned.
