William C. Swanson, 88, of West Warwick passed away on Thursday, November 3, 2022 at his home. He was the husband of Doris Y. (Martin) Swanson. He was born in Providence on November 7, 1933, a son of the late William C. and Margaret E. (Gill) Swanson. William was a welder and assembler at the Amtrol Company in West Warwick for over 29 years before retiring in 1998. He was a Korean War Army veteran. Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Brian Swanson of Coventry; two daughters, Susan Doblmaier of Pennsylvania and Janet Swanson of Florida; one brother Thomas Swanson of Smithfield; and a grandson, Michael Doblmaier. He was the brother of the late Mary Gousie of Rhode Island, James Swanson of Massachusetts, Robert Swanson of Massachusetts, Donald Swanson of Massachusetts. His funeral will be held on Tuesday, November 15, 2022 at 9 am from the Potvin-Quinn Funeral Home, 45 Curson Street, West Warwick with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in Christ the King Church, 120 Legris Avenue, West Warwick. Burial with military honors will be in the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Exeter. Visitation in the funeral home will be on Monday, November 14, 2022 from 4-7 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the R.I. Chapter of the American Cancer Society, 931 Jefferson Blvd, Suite 3004, Warwick, R.I. 02886 Family and friends are cordially invited to use the online “Tribute Wall” to offer messages of sympathy and condolence along with sharing memories and stories in celebration of William’s life.
