William’s Obituary William R. Burns (Bill) age 70 of Bath, Michigan passed away January 27, 2022 as a result of an automobile accident. Bill is survived by his brother Nick Burns (Anna), nephews Dillon and Ben and niece Jessica Goschka(Craig). Stepmother, Nancy Burns, step-sister Susan Howard, step-brother Eric Howard, and sister-in-law Karen Masters Burns. He was preceded in death by his father Robert C. Burns, mother, Marjorie Adams and sister, Tana Furr. Bill grew up in Michigan, graduating from Parkside High School in Jackson in 1969. He made his way to the Lansing area where he would spend the remainder of his life. He accepted employment from the State of Michigan, Department of Human Services where he spent the next 25 years driving to and modifying offices throughout the State. He was a dedicated employee, a perfectionist at heart and never left a job site that he wasn’t proud to have built. He always went the extra mile for the people he was serving. He retired at 52 years old. Bill was a jack of all trades. He helped build an addition on his home, was an excellent gardener, sharing many of his harvests with friends and family. He dabbled in photography, doing weddings, reunions and other gatherings. It made him happy to be a part of such things. He was an excellent landscaper and home decorator. Bill was proud that his nephews were polite, intelligent and successful young men and thrilled that they were able to get the college education he did not pursue. He was active in his neighbor’s lives helping them and their families. He was a good friend. He was a very thrifty, (maybe even a little cheap), an avid reader, and liked sharing books and insights with others about them. He enjoyed fixing things, (new or old), always building it better and stronger. Bill loved going to Goodwill and getting deals on “oak” entertainment centers, desks, and tables, and then repurposing them just to pass them onto others. Bill was a very giving person of his time and his belongings. He had a rare blood type and for many years donated blood as often as possible to the Red Cross. He loved and doted on his cats Zeke, Misty and Gizmo. Bill will be missed by his family, his neighbors, his close friends, and his former co-workers: Dale and Carol, Helen, Matt and Adrian and families, Steve, Bonnie, and Marc and others. Thank you all for the love and friendship you bestowed on him. Arrangements are being managed by Palmer Bush and Jensen Family Funeral Homes, Delta Chapel, Lansing Michigan. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held later, in the spring. Please sign in online so we may contact you.
