August 2 1948 December 18 2022
Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, Reverend Wilber Joey Clark went home to be with his Lord December 18, 2022 surrounded by family. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Sandy Moran Clark, his daughters Crystal Gowan and Candice Cheney (Randal), seven grandchildren, two great granddaughters, one brother, six sisters, 18 nephews, 6 nieces and numerous great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer E. Clark and Velma A. Idler Clark, grandmother Jenny Belle Lyvere Idler Post, son-in-law Tracy Gowan, brother Clyde D. Clark, four nephews and one niece. Wilber was born August 2, 1948 in Prosser, WA, the eighth child of nine in the Clark family. He grew up in Grandview during an era when children ran and played using their imaginations to have fun. Imagination, curiosity and innovation were things Wilber possessed in abundance; he was never at a loss for something to do. Give him a rock and a stick and he would find a way to have fun. He attended all grades in Grandview, graduating high school in 1965. After graduating, he went on to Oklahoma Wesleyan University, (then Bartlesville Wesleyan College). Wilber gave his heart to the Lord as a young teen, received his ministerial calling and never wavered from it. At Bartlesville he met the love of his life, Sandy Moran. Sandy has been his helpmeet and his partner in ministry starting at a little church in Humboldt, Kansas when he was only 19 years old while attending college. After graduating college with a degree in theology, he attended Western Evangelical Seminary in Jennings Lodge, OR (now George Fox). He and Sandy served as pastors in Silverton, OR (while attending WES); Post Falls, ID; Salem, OR and Clarkston, WA. Three years after their retirement, they served three years as interim pastors in Hermiston, OR. Wilber’s girls were his pride and joy. While attending WES, their first child, Crystal Marie was born and twenty-five months later, Candice Marlene was born. They dedicated them to God when they were toddlers. Wilber and Sandy often marveled at the joy their girls brought to them. They blessed Wilber and Sandy with 7 “exceptional” grandchildren who meant more to him than any earthly possessions! Wilber has been a personal pastor to his extended family performing numerous weddings, baby dedications and funerals. He and Sandy ministered to family and nonfamily by taking children into their home when adults other than parents were needed in their lives. Wilber lived a life of loving service to his family, his congregations, and to others. He is irreplaceable and already greatly missed.
