Christian burial services will be on Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at 10:30 AM. Burial will be at Salem Cemetery following the service. Wayne was born February 11, 1939, to George and Amy (Gunderson) Lamprecht in Ponca, NE, where he resided his entire life. He was the oldest of the six siblings. Wayne attended District 13 country school until eighth grade, he then attended Ponca Public School and graduated in 1957. Wayne was baptized, confirmed and was a lifelong member of the Salem Lutheran Church. Wayne married, Carol Olson April 8th, 1967, to this union, they were blessed with three children, the three K’s, Kim, Kyle and Koni. The couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary, with hundreds of friends before Carol’s passing in August 2017. Wayne farmed with his father and brother Jim out on the Silver Creek home place. They also finished thousands of cattle for Jack Martin. When the farm crisis hit, the family farm operation ceased, and Wayne went to work at the Sioux City Stock Yards as a commission man for Wood Brothers. Wayne sold the last load of hogs before it’s closing. Wayne then went to work for the Highland Oaks golf course until his health prevented him from working at age 80. In the middle of these jobs, Wayne and Carol purchased Centennial Lanes in 1988, and for those 16 years he burned the candle from both ends with early mornings and late nights. Centennial Lanes was the hub of the community and the family business brought people together on a regular basis. The young and the old and everyone in between, these were special memories and times for Wayne, the friendships that were developed was worth all the hard work. Wayne had a servant’s heart and was always “Ponca Promoting”. He served on the Silver Creek township Board, Ponca School Board, Commercial club which later became Ponca Area Community Club, Ponca Alumni Committee, Ponca Volunteer Fire Department and Salem Lutheran Church. Wayne also was also the spearhead of many, many benefits, either for the community fundraising, or someone in need. He loved to travel with his ol’ red grill to help many organizations. His giving of his talents and time was his legacy. His greatest pride and title though was “Grandpa”. Wayne and Carol loved going to everything and anything the grandkids were involved in. The kids never had to question if they were loved. He brought them all in on his endeavors and passed along his willingness to give to others. As each generation was added and his life slowed down, his great grandchildren became his life. He found joy in watching them and daily visits from the porch as they made their way to his house from school. He loved sharing snacks with them and the daily hugs they provided. There will never be a greater grandpa.
