Reno, Wayne Phillip Age 85, of Blaine, died peacefully at Crest View Senior Community on December 31, 2021. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carolann (Provost); his daughter, Debra Back-strom; parents Lloyd and Clara; and siblings, John, Janet, and Roger. Wayne is survived by his sons, John (Renae) and Ronald (Melonie); son-in-law, Roger Backstrom; ten grandchildren; many great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. Wayne was raised in Minneapolis and joined the Marine Corps at age 17 and he served proudly for four years. Wayne met his wife Carol through letters they exchanged when he was in the service and met her for the first time in person when he came home on leave. They married in 1957 and made their home in Blaine where they raised three children. Wayne worked for many years as a Teamster over-the-road truck driver. Wayne, with Carol’s love and support, worked to overcome the struggles of alcoholism through a 12-step program and achieved 48 years of sobriety. Over the years, Wayne enjoyed time spent at the family cabin and he always loved being on a lake. He spent much time with his family, was an avid movie-goer, and loved his family dogs. Wayne loved to travel with his wife all over the country taking her on many long road trips. Wayne was a generous and easy-going man that is loved and will be missed by many. Visitation 4:00-7:30pm, Wednesday January 19 at Washburn-McReavy – Coon Rapids, 1827 Coon Rapids Blvd NW. During the visitation, time will be set aside beginning at 6:00pm for loved ones to share their stories of remembrance of Wayne.
