View Tribute Book Virginia Diane Gentry, 81, of Danville, VA passed away on Thursday, December 29, 2022, after a brief and hard-fought battle with cancer. She was born in Danville, VA on December 7, 1941, to the late Mabel George Lester. Mrs. Gentry was a member of Dan River Church, and she enjoyed her flowers, plants and going to the beach. Her family was the most important thing in her life and she loved spending time with them. She is survived by her son, Kenny Gentry (Cindy); daughters, Teresa Carroll (Jonathan) and Lisa Watson (Spike); grandchildren, Eddie Jones, Melissa Hines (John), Jennifer Jackson (Carnell), Jaimie Watson, and Kayla Roach; eight great-grandchildren; brothers, Victor Adkins, Jennings Lester, and Tony Lester; and her special cat, Prissy. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by daughter, LeeAnn Carter; sons, Shannon Gentry and Junior Wayne Gentry; and grandsons, Max Pierce, Jr. and Tyler Wayne Roach. A funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 1, 2023, at Norris Funeral Services, Mt. Hermon Chapel, 3995 Franklin Turnpike, Danville, VA 24540 with Pastor Todd Hartley officiating. Visitation will precede the funeral on Sunday from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. The family will also receive friends at the residence of her son, Kenny Gentry. Interment will be at Highland Burial Park.
