View Tribute Book Thomas “Tom” Smart, age 87, a resident of Eagle River, WI since 1969, passed away at Aurora Bay Care Medical Center in Green Bay, WI on Wednesday October 26, 2022. He was born on September 29, 1935 in New Lisbon, WI to Orville and Beulah Smart. Tom married his wife, Carol, on June 12, 1954 in Union Grove, WI. He worked for many years as a teacher and principal in Wind Lake, Union Grove, and Eagle River Elementary School. He also owned and operated the Humpty Dumpty Pre-School in Eagle River, WI. He was longtime volunteer at Earth Base Recycling at the Northland Pines Elementary School. Tom was a member of First Congregational Church – UCC in Eagle River and the Lions Club. He was a proud Eagle Scout. He enjoyed coin collecting and collecting owls and spending time doing yard work. He was a Packer fan, Cubs fan, and an active participant in and spectator of stock car racing. Tom was preceded in death by his parents: Orville and Beulah; son: Scott Thomas Smart; and brothers Harold and Ronald. He is survived by his wife of 68 years: Carol Smart of Eagle River, WI; daughter: Tomi (Bob) Cline of Eagle River, WI; son: Troy Smart of Ironwood, MI; grandchildren: Cody, Nick, Caitlin, Ashley, Morgan, Cole and Tia; and great grandchildren: Memphis, Maya, Ethan, and Abigail.
