He was born January 26, 1949, in Florala the son of Jessie Howard and Ravenell Aplin Howard. Tom was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving 4 tours of duty in Vietnam, receiving the National Defense Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal and Bronze Star Medal. Tom was an avid fisherman and hunter spending countless hour in the lakes, fields and ponds of south Alabama and northwest Florida. Often times in the afternoon you could find him under the pecan tree behind his home telling stories to his family and friends. He loved Alabama Football and its rich traditions and loved sharing that with family and friends. He was preceded in death by father, Jessie Howard; mother, Ravenell Aplin Howard; sister, Phyllis Howard. He is survived by son, John Howard and wife Cassy, daughter Kishaa Nelson and husband Shawn Weeks, brother, Frankie Howard, sisters, Rose mary Spanstra and husband Melvin, Mona Sams and Pat Flemming, and 5 grandchildren. He loved being their Paw Paw Tom and Pa Pa Tom. Funeral services for Thomas Howard will be 2PM Tuesday January 18, 2022, at Evans Funeral Home with Chris Davenport officiating. Visitation will be 1 hour before services. Interment will be in the Paxton Cemetery.
