View Tribute Book Suzanne Setzer Bizzell, 67, died Tuesday, October 25, 2022, following a brief illness. She is preceded in death by her mother, Cassie Whittemore Setzer and father Evan Sylvanus Setzer, Jr. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, and grandmother. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, October 30, 2022, at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Kinston, North Carolina, with the Rev. Tom Warren officiating. Internment will immediately follow the service in St. Francis’s garden. Suzanne is survived by her husband of 45 years, William Robert Bizzell; daughter Elizabeth Bizzell Saylors and husband Kyle, of Goldsboro; daughter Margaret Reams Bizzell of Raleigh; and two loving granddaughters, Caroline Davis Saylors and Eleanor Elizabeth Saylors, of Goldsboro. She is also survived by a sister, Mary Setzer Maness of Goldsboro, brother Evan Sylvanus Setzer, III, of High Point, niece Riley Cathleen Maness of Goldsboro, and nephew Jonathan Robbins Maness of Raleigh. Suzanne was a graduate of Grimsley High School in Greensboro, and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a degree in public health. She will be remembered most for her style, grace, her ability to make a house a home, and her love of her family and the UNC Tar Heels. She was an incredible baker and would love when her grandchildren would come over to get one of her homemade milkshakes. Suzanne was full of warmth, laughter, a love of life, and she never met a stranger. Along with her husband Rob she founded Realo Discount Drug Stores, Inc. in 1982, growing it into the largest independently owned pharmacy in North Carolina. Suzanne was a member of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, where she sang in the choir, participated in the church’s yearly Boar’s Head Festival, and was a member of the Diocesan Schola Cantorum. She was also an active participant in the arts, history, and other disciplines locally and statewide. She was a past officer of the North Carolina Pharmaceutical Association Women’s Auxiliary and a past board member and officer of the Mother’s Committee of Arendell Parrott Academy. Suzanne was a seminar participant at Mesda, Colonial Williamsburg, and Tryon Palace; a member of the Friends of Hope Committee for the Historic Hope Foundation; a member of the board of directors for Harmony Hall; and the designee to the Tryon Palace Commission for Attorney General Josh Stein. After the service, visitation will be held in Moseley Hall at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Mary’s Episcopal Church or the Tryon Palace Foundation.
