Steven D. “Steve” Riddle, age 58 of Worden, IL, died Monday, November 21, 2022, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, IL. He was born on Tuesday, December 17, 1963, in Blytheville, AR, the son of Jackie and Norma (nee Flowers) Riddle. On Saturday, September 28, 1985, he married Terese A. “Tracy” Riddle nee Mertzen who survives. Steve was born at Blytheville, Arkansas, lived in England and Germany as his father was in the military. He mainly grew up in Troy, IL, and graduated from Triad High School, in 1982. He worked for the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency at Cahokia Mounds, first working nights as a janitor and later became the volunteer coordinator. Still with the same agency, he later moved onto and was the Site Director at the Vandalia State House and a few years later retired. He trained and raised Border Collies, later this led to sheep herding. He competed in sheep herding trials and demonstrated sheep herding. He participated in historical reenactments all over the Midwest. He and his wife participated in the Goshen Community Market, Edwardsville, for over 22 years and their stand is “The Shepard’s Wife”. He had a wicked sense of humor and was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Survivors include: Wife – Terese A. “Tracy” (nee Mertzen) Riddle, Worden, IL Son – Geoffrey S. Riddle, Huntington, IN Daughter – Elizabeth T. “Libby” (Aaron) Denson, Sorento, IL Daughter – Katherine M. “Katie” Riddle, Worden, IL Grandchild – Jackson W. Riddle, Sorento, IL Grandchild – Christopher D. Denson, Sorento, IL. He was preceded in death by: Father – Jackie F. “Jack” Riddle Mother – Norma J. Riddle (nee Flowers) Brother – Michael “Mike” Riddle. Arrangements are being handled by Dauderman Mortuary in Hamel, IL. Celebration of Life at a later date.
