Passed to Eternal Life Saturday, December 31st at 101 years. Beloved husband for 68 years to the late Lucille (Trojahn). Dear father of Karen (Dennis) Lorentz, Charles (Diane), Steve (Elaine), Tom, and Mike Cannistra. Loving grandfather of Joannie (Mike) Kalina, Lisa (Mark) Smith, Alex, Kathy, Lori (Kyle) Jones, Lindsey, Nick (Andrea) and Micaela Cannistra. In addition, to his parents, Steve was preceded in death by 3 brothers, 5 sisters and their spouses. He is further survived by his sister-in-law, 8 great-grandchildren, dear nieces, nephews, many relatives and friends. Steve was a former employee of Wisconsin Gas Company. Visitation will be at St. John the Evangelist Church (8500 W. Coldspring Rd.) on January 4th at 3:00pm until the Mass of Christian Burial at 5:00pm. Private Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. Steve was a founding member of St. John the Evangelist and he and his wife co-chaired the initial festivals. Prior to St. John’s, he was highly involved at St. Mary’s in Hales Corners. For over 40 years, Steve and Lu hosted weekly family spaghetti dinners and he enjoyed sharing his baked homemade Sicilian foods. He was an avid reader, loved to share stories, tell a clever joke and sing a song from the past. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. John the Evangelist or Camp Whitcomb Mason which was a life-changing opportunity for him as a young city boy.
