View Tribute Book Stephen Patrick Barrett, age 36, of Rome, passed away on December 17, 2022. He was born April 18, 1986, in Goldsboro, North Carolina, the son of James and Maureen Bieniek Barrett, and graduated from Rome Free Academy. He worked as a Secure Care Treatment Aide at the Central New York Psychiatric Center. Stephen was a beautiful and caring soul who loved life and had a unique gift of making everyone he met feel special. He was an amazing Dad and cherished his family and friends. He was an avid sports fan and a lifelong fan of the Buffalo Bills. Steve’s bright light and dynamic personality shined through to everyone. There are no words to express how much we will miss him although his energy and spirt will live on in our hearts forever. Stephen is survived by his beloved daughter, Janessa; his father and stepmother, James and Michelle; his mother, Maureen; a brother, Michael Barrett of Rome; his longtime partner Kaitlin Grant and her daughter Isabella, whom Steve thought of as his own daughter, and his “little brother” Trenton Hawkins, several aunts, uncles and cousins; and many great friends and co-workers. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at 7:00 PM; at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home, on Tuesday from 4 to 7 PM, prior to the funeral service. Please consider contributing any memorial donations to a scholarship fund in the name of Steve’s beloved daughter, Janessa.
