View Tribute Book Stanley W. “Billy” Matt, Jr., of Lee Center, passed away on Wednesday, November 30, 2022, at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Utica. He was born on February 12, 1958, in Rome, the son of Stanley W. and Karen (MacFarland) Matt, Sr. He was a 1976 graduate of Adirondack Central High School. On September 17, 1977, Billy was united in marriage to Judy Ann Maitland on the family farm in Lee Center. Judy passed away on April 27, 2022. He was employed as foreman for International Wire. He enjoyed sports especially those that involved being outside like skiing and snowmobiling. He was a nature euthenist who enjoyed sitting around a camp fire with friends and family. Surviving are his three sons, Jamie and Jolene Matt, of Effingham, SC, Jeremy and Renee Matt, of Rome, and Jason and Abigail Matt, of Lee Center; a brother, Steven and Roberta Matt, of Ava; four grandchildren, Isabelle, Grace, Weston, and Natalie; grand dogs, Major and Jordy; his in-laws, Mollie and Michael Oram, of Taberg, Edith and David Boisen, of Lee Center, Jane and Jay Smith, of Ava, Marjorie and Michael Szyper, of Lee Center, and Peter Maitland and Ezequiel Cortes, of Lee Center; and several nieces and nephews. Stan was predeceased by a sister, Kimberly A. Matt, on April 29, 2021. Billy’s family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to Judy’s siblings for all of the love and care they have shown to Billy and the family over the years. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 5, 2022, at 10:00 AM at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street, with the Rev. Peter Mowers officiating. Interment will take place in Evergreen Cemetery. Family and friends are invited and may call on Sunday from 2 to 4 PM.
