Sonny’s Obituary Mr. Sonny Darius Dyer age 72 of Gainesville Hwy Blairsville passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday October 27, 2022 following a brief illness. Mr. Dyer was born on February 6, 1950 in Blue Ridge, GA., the son of the late Worth Dyer and the late Emma Wimpey Dyer. He was a lifelong farmer by trade. He loved his family, his church and most of all loved his Lord. He was a loving and carting father, brother and grandfather. Sonny attended Zebulon Baptist Church. Surviving Mr. Dyer are two daughters and one son in law, Emmalyn Dyer of Dahlonega, Henrietta and Michael Hinojosa of Borney, TX., two sisters, Shirley Dyer of Blairsville, Susie Freeman of Cleveland, GA., two brothers and sisters in law, Kenneth and Becky Dyer of Blairsville, Melvin and Mary Dyer of Augusta, GA., sister in law, Sherian Dyer of Edmund, OK., one granddaughter, Kayleigh Lynn Dyer, several nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends also survive. Funeral services will be held on Sunday October 30, 2022 at 3:00 pm from the Old Liberty Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Alexander officiating. Special music will be presented by Doug Freeman and Family. Sonny will lay in state at the church on Sunday from 2:30-3:00 pm. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Doug Freeman, Keith Pitts, Allen Dyer, Kenneth Cook, Sid Dyer and Michael Pitts. The following gentleman will serve as honorary pallbearers, Ray Seabolt, Billy England, Susie Souther, Kenneth Dyer, Melvin Dyer, Jon Dyer and Michael Hinojosa. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that donations may be made to the Old Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery fund in Mr. Dyer’s memory. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Saturday evening from 6-8:00 pm. Mountain View Funeral Home of Blairsville is in charge of the arrangements.
