Shorty’s Obituary Shorty Otis, 83, of Canadian, passed away Tuesday, November 15, 2022, in Amarillo. Funeral services will be 10:00 am, Monday, November 21, 2022, at the Carmichael-Whatley Canadian Chapel with Donald Hill, officiating. The private burial will be at Edith Ford Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements & burial are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Canadian. Francis Eugene “Shorty” Otis was born July 14, 1939, in Wilsey, KS to Floyd and Frances Otis. He served with the US Army. Shorty was a cowboy and day worked for almost every ranch in the area, most of his work time was for the Brainard Ranch. He enjoyed hunting coyotes with dogs. Shorty’s favorite color was red, and he always drove a red pickup. While living at the Ussery Roan Texas State Veterans Home he enjoyed playing dominos with his buddies. Shorty’s heart was still at home in Canadian Shorty was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Floyd Otis Jr and Frank Otis; a nephew, Ferlin Otis; and a niece, Brandy Otis. Survived by a brother, Fred Otis and wife Cathy of Alex, OK; niece, Felicia Taylor and husband Chris and their two children Tripp and Drey of Pocasset, OK; nieces, Fallon Otis of Alex, OK, Candy Koehler and husband Kagan of Pleasant Hill, MO; Nephews, Bronc Otis and wife Amy of Silverton, TX, Farris Otis of Paulden, AZ, Donny McCauley and wife Becky of Liberty, MO, Farron Otis and wife Theresa of Beaumont, TX; Great and Great Great Nieces and Nephews too many to count.
