Shirley’s Obituary Big Rapids – Shirley Ann Geib, 97, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 10, 2022. She was born Shirley Ann Vis on May 1, 1925, in Grand Rapids, MI. Shirley graduated from Creston High School and married the love of her life, Theodore T. Geib, whom she met while they were both working in a factory making equipment for the war effort. Shirley was a talented artist, seamstress, and homemaker. She loved camping, fishing, visiting with friends, playing cards, reading, drawing, knitting, and other crafts. She is preceded in death by her father, Stanley Vis, her mother, Effie (Christenson) Vis, her stepmother, Emma Vis, her husband, Theodore T. Geib, her three sons George, Timothy, and Theodore, Jr. and his wife Sally. She is survived by her daughter Cheryl (Geib) Wheeler of Traverse City, MI; her daughters-in-law Birnie (Geib) Thomas of Big Rapids, MI and Brenda (Geib) Swanson of Muncie, Indian; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. The family wishes to express their thanks to the caring staff at The Brook of Big Rapids Assisted Living, where Shirley lived for the past 3-1/2 years and to Spectrum Health Hospice A memorial service will be held at the Third Avenue United Methodist Church in Big Rapids at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 26, with visitation at 10 a.m. and lunch following the service. Memorial contributions in her name can be made to the Third Avenue United Methodist Church, 226 N 3rd Ave, Big Rapids, MI 49307.
