SERVICES: Wednesday, October 19, 2022 Johnson Creek Baptist Church 2:00 p.m. INTERMENT: Garris Family Cemetery VISITATION: Wednesday, October 19, 2022 Johnson Creek Baptist Church 11:30 – 2:00 p.m. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at Johnson Creek Baptist Church in State Line, for Mr. Wendell W. Garris, age 65, of State Line. Mr. Garris passed from this life on October 16, 2022 at University of South Alabama Medical Center. Bro. Tommy Ezell will officiate the service with burial to follow in Garris Family Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ben Brown, Daryl Knowles, Ronnie Garris, Duck Duell, Tim Brannon, and Kevin Fortenberry. Mr. Garris worked for many years in law enforcement with the State Line Police Department, George County Sheriff’s Office, Greene County Sheriff’s Office, and was retired as chief of the Leakesville Police Department. He loved his family and was always happy to help anyone in need. He enjoyed spending time outdoors hunting, fishing, and grilling. Mr. Garris was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Bernice Garris. He is survived by his children, Keith Garris of Shubuta, Meagan Garris of Waynesboro, Brittney Garris of Buckatunna, and Janice Garris of Buckatunna; grandchildren, Chloe Beasley, Malorie Stanley, Rozlynn Garris, and Timber Brown; and brother, Darrell (Thelma) Garris of State Line.
