View Tribute Book Ruth Dorothy (Stewart) Lane was born on January 23, 1932 to James and Edith Stewart in Springfield, NJ. She was #6 of 8 living siblings. She went home to be with her Lord and Savior on October 3, 2022. Ruth was a loving wife to Robert Lane, whom she married on July 30, 1949. They were married for 62 years before the Lord took Bob home in 2011. She was a loving mother to her daughter Lorie Weaver and son-in-law Robert (Rick) Weaver. Ruth lived in Millburn, Garwood and Plainfield before moving to Piscataway 36 years ago. She worked at the A&P for a short time and the Acme for a little over five years. Ruth loved people and doing volunteer work! She volunteered and worked at Timothy Christian School in Piscataway for over 19 years before retiring in 1988. Ruth and her husband Bob played a big part in the addition of the High School at TCS. She volunteered at WAWZ/Star 99.1 Radio Station for about 10 years doing mailings, assembling promotional items and anything else they needed help with until she needed to care for her husband Bob. She loved watching NASCAR races, doing jigsaw puzzles, Search A Word books, making the inside and outside of her home beautiful, going to Flea Markets, playing games with friends, making floral arrangements and shopping. Ruth was a member of Hydewood Park Baptist Church in North Plainfield, NJ for about 30 years where she sang in the choir, taught VBS, worked in the 2 & 3 year old Sunday School nursery and later became the Superintendent of the Department. Ruth and her family began attending New Durham Chapel in Piscataway, NJ in 1988. She attended some of the Ladies Bible Studies, was active in the IFAR ministry with International Students, helped at “Work Days”, decorated the inside of the sanctuary of the church for different holidays and gave out Candy Canes to everyone at Christmas. She loved helping people, making people laugh, and bringing joy to everyone around her. His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You were faithful with a few things, I will put you in charge of many things; enter the joy of your master.’ Matthew 25:21 A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, October 15th at 11:30 am and visitation will be from 10 am to 11:30 am at New Durham Chapel, 225 New Durham Rd. Piscataway, NJ 08854.
